Self Defense Is Spirituality
Standing up for yourself is spirituality. Letting others attack you and doing nothing about it, shows that you don’t care enough about yourself to do anything about it or you have fear. Having the courage, the guts, and the strength to stand up against those who wish to harm you is not only your right, it’s your duty. Protecting yourself and others from evil is the path of righteousness and one of the noblest things you can do. The dark side will say oh if you defend yourself you’re not spiritual. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book that they use to instill guilt and shame on innocent people. Somebody once asked me if you give someone love and friendliness and they start attacking you and take advantage of your generosity, what should you do? How do you handle it? Well, the answer is, and this applies to anyone who uses force or deception to compromise your values, is to become ferocious. Yes, this is something that escapes most people, especially those spiritually inclined. Even the gods had to fight wars against the demons of evil. For those of you familiar with Hinduism one of the goddesses, Lakshmi, is a very benevolent being, but when the demons of poverty, corruption, lies, and darkness arrive, she transforms into Kali, she is a ruthless ferocious goddess who slays these demons and wears a necklace made from their heads.
Great martial artists in the past possessed incredible skill yet remained perfectly peaceful. However, if someone tried to do harm, they would instantly put them in their place. Don’t make the same mistake the shaolin monks did in the old days. Back in the day, a long time ago, the shaolin monks at the shaolin temple were peaceful meditating monks. However, bandits would come, beat up the monks, kill the monks, and run away with their loot. Eventually, the monks became furious and sent monks all over the world in different countries to bring back warriors of different fighting styles to the temple and thus, shaolin kung fu was born. So now the monks meditate, but if someone tries to hurt them they’re ready for it.
Danger can pop its ugly head anytime, but that doesn’t mean you should live in fear. Be strong and not afraid to face it. If you let people take advantage of you, they’ll walk all over you. But that’s not the end of it, they’ll continue to stomp and abuse your carcass until there’s nothing left of you. Some people lack love and because of this, they don’t respect themselves much less others. Naturally, their unhappiness spreads to those around them and they may wish to assault you. If this happens to you it’s your job to give them love, tough love. That means using physical force if necessary. If someone tries to kill you, you kill them first! There’s nothing spiritual in letting them have their way with you. It would be a shame if the world lost you and have your killer continue his path of destruction. Better to kill one who will kill a thousand. Don’t take this as being very aggressive for everything it just means that if so the occasion rises, you have the right to self-defense by any means necessary.
